Special ceremonies

We are pleased to offer our land at Rock Valley Farm to hold the space for ceremonies of all kinds, weddings, hand fastings, or special celebrations. There is a special spot where one of our oldest Oak trees (said to be at least 500 years old) has merged its growth with a huge standing stone, and a small holly grows between them (symbolic of relationship), there is also a large flat stone on the ground which lends itself well as an alter. This feels a special place that has perhaps been used for ceremony in times past, and has hosted some beautiful and moving occasions in the last two years…Next to it is our most magical part of woodland, strewn with mossy rocks with trees growing on an around them, wild flowers and grasses abound,  a stream meanders its way through, and links the woodland to the stone circles. This is a real ‘dingly dell’…do you believe in fairies?

The stone circles are also a really lovely spot for a family ceremony; a large outer circle holds a central stone that is used as a ceremonial hearth and a smaller, more intimate circle that lends itself beautifully as ceremonial space. Surrounded by trees and greenery, there is a sense of calm in this space, joined with the songs of the woodland birds. This area, along with the Oak tree is linked in a triangular shape to an unusual stone trough, the origins and history of which we do not know, but someone has taken a long time to carefully carve it out to a shallow basin, complete with plug hole!
