Things To Do In The Local Area
Within easy reach the farm is Drogo Castle and Canonteign Falls, the Miniature Pony Centre and Falconry Centre, Becky falls, the house of marbles and Woodlands adventure park are just down the road, to name just a few of the local attractions.
On our land we see badgers, deer, foxes and buzzards, and for most of the year there is a fascinating array of mushrooms, toadstools and wild flowers (see if you can spot the wild honeysuckle in the trees) around the woodland.
Just a few short miles away are Tottiford, Trenchford and Kennick reservoirs for Trout and Pike fishing, and many beautiful walks. There is some of the most beautiful walking in the country in and around Dartmoor, with its Tors and rugged wilderness; it is well known for the amazing diversity of landscape, from expansive moorland to wooded valleys and bubbling stream, not to mention of course the wild ponies! Very close to us are Steps Bridge, Clifford Bridge and Fingle Bridge - all beautiful wooded walks at any time of year.
We are centrally located for the North or South Devon beaches, whether you are keen on wide expanses of sand and exhilarating surfing, or smaller craggy beaches with pebbles and rock pools for the kids to while away the hours with a shrimping net!
Only 3 miles away is Moretonhampstead, the ‘Gateway to the moors’ for good local shops and pubs, and 8 miles to Chagford for good food, local crafts and artists a health food shop and organic vegetarian cafe and the Barefoot Barn with regular yoga lessons and courses. Just 9 miles away is the cathedral city of Exeter for every conceivable shopping requirement!
